  7. T-FIG is  an interactive tutorial  intended for use  with the
  8. Telix comm  program. It runs  just like a  script from within
  9. Telix.  T-FIG reads  the present  configuration of  TELIX and
  10. displays  it in  a textual   format. You  can make  a dynamic
  11. configuration change  and T-FIG will  pick it up  and display
  12. the new configuration.

  14. T-FIG is  designed with the  beginner in mind.  It allows the
  15. new  TELIX  user  to  have  easy  access to the configuration
  16. information needed  to make TELIX more  easily used. It's not
  17. necessary  to remember  any commands  to use  T-FIG ...  it's
  18. completely automatic.

  20. In many  cases the information  you need for  the most widely
  21. used applications are explained in T-FIG. Section 5: TIPS and
  22. HINTS contains stuff that causes  most new users problems. If
  23. you have a particular problem, it's most likely here. If not,
  24. use the new on-line documentation.

  27. T-FIG  ADVANCED  v4.00,  now  with  ON-LINE DOCUMENTATION and
  28. SHELL:

  30. I can't even begin to count the  times that I needed a tidbit
  31. of  information   from  the  manual,   exited  TELIX,  loaded
  32. TELIX.DOC into  an editor, List,  Browse, etc., found  what I
  33. needed,  changed back  to the  TELIX directory,  and finally,
  34. reran  TELIX. Now,  for those  with lots  of memory, problems
  35. don't  exist...but,  they  did  for  me...regardless  of  the
  36. frustration! T-FIG gets around  that by providing TELIX quick
  37. reference with ON-LINE DOCUMENTATION.

  39. The on-line documentation that comes with T-FIG is extensive,
  40. inluding:

  42. 1.  A Telix User's Manual
  43. 2.  A SALT Progrmming Guide
  44. 3.  A Telecommunications Primer
  45. 4.  The T-FIG User Manual
  46.  
  47. In addition,  registered users will  received a Comprehensive
  48. Cyclopedic  HyperJump  Index.  This  index catalogs virtually
  49. every significant word, concept, and  idea in all the on-line
  50. documentation alphabetically. It has over 1,500 entries! When
  51. a user  finds  what  they're  looking  for,  they  can make a
  52. HyperJump  directly  to  the  spot  in  the  file  where  the
  53. information is located!

  55. Also, two new and useful features of T-FIG are SHELL and LOG.
  56.  
  57. 1.  Users can now shell to DOS while T-FIG is running.
  58. 2.  Users  can  command  T-FIG   to  write  a  log  of  Telix
  59.        configuration to a floppy disk in drive A.
